Analysis of top 100 brokers reveals market share increase
The UK broking market has weathered the economic storm well with the top 100 brokers managing to increase their market share, according to Insurance Age's 2010 Top 100 Independent Brokers supplement.
The analysis, conducted by insurance consultant Tony Cornell, revealed that the top 100 now control £5.9bn in premiums, a 1.7% increase on last year. As Mr Cornell pointed out: "Bearing in mind the commercial market dropped by some 14% in 2009, this is a remarkable achievement."
But he did issue a health warning on these figures as "some brokers are perhaps reluctant to publicly admit hard times".
