Bluefin chief calls for Aldermanbury Declaration to be precondition of agency

Bluefin chief executive, Stuart Reid, has called for commitment to the Aldermanbury Declaration to be a precondition of securing an insurer agency.

“If insurance companies really are behind this and they hold store that we must improve professionalism in industry, then it is incumbent on them to use the powers they have to up the level of commitment from the broking market,” he said.

“Insurers could and should do more such as making it a condition of agency and they could start implementing that within the next 12 months. Aligning yourself with the Declaration – is not prohibitively expensive and the minimum requirements should be aspired

Broker optimism on the up in fleet

Direct Commercial’s latest broker barometer has found 56% of brokers experienced difficulties in securing coverage for smaller fleets in the last quarter, a slight improvement from 60% earlier in the year.
