FSCS adds journalist to board

The Financial Services Authority has appointed Liz Barclay, David Weymouth and Jayne Nickalls as non-executive directors to the board of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

Ms Barclay, a journalist and broadcaster, has over 25 years' experience of covering money and consumer issues for the likes of the Independent on Sunday, BBC and Citizens Advice.

Mr Weymouth is currently a member of the group executive committee at RSA and was chief information officer at Barclays.

Ms Nickalls was chief executive of Directgov for more than five years and previously was vice president of consulting (Northern Europe) with Chordiant Software.

David Hall, chairman of the FSCS, said

FSCS gives first insight on increasing levy to £394m

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has indicated its levy for 2025/26 will rise to £394m from £265m this financial year as it cited having lower surpluses to carry forward and offset bills – a factor that has benefited brokers for two years in a row.
