Regulator warns of bogus firm offering motor cover for young drivers

The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) has issued a warning to the public regarding Unique Car Insurance.

In a statement on its website the GFSC said it had received information that this firm was operating a website and offering to provide short-term motor insurance in the United Kingdom to drivers under the age of 21.

According to the regulator Unique Car Insurance has claimed that it is a limited company that is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Commission in Gibraltar.

The GFSC said : "Unique Car Insurance is not regulated by the FSC, or licensed under the Financial Services

FSCS gives first insight on increasing levy to £394m

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has indicated its levy for 2025/26 will rise to £394m from £265m this financial year as it cited having lower surpluses to carry forward and offset bills – a factor that has benefited brokers for two years in a row.
