Ban on referral fees is not the only answer says Biba

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) has voiced strong concerns about the government's announcement of a ban on referral fees for the selling on of personal injury details.

Graeme Trudgill, Biba head of corporate affairs, said: "Biba does not believe that banning referral fees in personal injury cases is necessarily the right and only way to reduce motor insurance premiums. Referral fees are not the only factor contributing to the increasing costs of motor insurance. Other factors to be taken into consideration include fraud and uninsured driving.
