Ex-ABI man to head up new FSA department

Peter Vipond ABI

Peter Vipond has been appointed as head of department, insurance sector and prudential support, at the Financial Services Authority (FSA).

He joins the FSA from the Association of British Insurers (ABI), where he was director of financial regulation and taxation.

According to the FSA, the responsibilities which will be undertaken by the new department includes managing risk across the insurance division by working with other FSA specialists, influencing the development and implementation of policy changes, and co-ordinating central identification of risk across the insurance sector.

Lords Committee ‘unconvinced’ on FCA name and shame proposal

The House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee is unconvinced on the FCA’s name and shame plans as it branded the consultation an “abject failure” and urged if concerns have not been addressed in the regulator’s second consultation the proposals should not go ahead.
