AA figures show personal lines hardening
Research by AA Insurance has found on-going premium rate rises in both motor and home insurance.
According to the AA, its Shoparound price - an average of the three cheapest quotes from a range of insurers, brokers and schemes - for comprehensive motor insurance is now £971.40.
The figure revealed in the company's British Insurance Premium Index meant prices increased by 5.4% in the final three months of 2011 resulting in an annual increase of 15.3%.
Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, admitted to being surprised at the scale of the change.
