Aviva considering tied agent model in Ireland

Aviva has told staff in Ireland that it is considering selling some branches while others may be used in a franchise model, according to reports in the Irish press.

Aviva has already confirmed it will cut nearly 1,000 jobs, approximately one third of its total workforce in Ireland, and speculation has previously been focused on the provider selling its entire 26 branch network.

However the Irish Independent has reported that Aviva staff were told on Tuesday 24 January that there were a number of options surrounding the sale of its property portfolio including "franchising branches to intermediaries".
