Powerplace chief executive out after only eight months

Powerplace, the Towergate online wholesale subsidiary, is to appoint its third chief executive in a year.

Insurance Age can reveal that Simon Ball, Powerplace chief executive, has lost his job just eight months after replacing his predecessor Matthew Reed, who is now at Axa Commercial Lines.

He is to be replaced on an interim basis by Nick Giddings, commercial director at Powerplace.

Mr Ball’s departure comes one month after Insurance Age revealed that Darren Rowe, former sales and marketing director at Powerplace, had been put on gardening leave.

FSCS gives first insight on increasing levy to £394m

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has indicated its levy for 2025/26 will rise to £394m from £265m this financial year as it cited having lower surpluses to carry forward and offset bills – a factor that has benefited brokers for two years in a row.
