Liberty sets up Leeds operation

Liberty Mutual Insurance has made four new appointments as it opens a new office in Leeds.

Andrew Griggs has been appointed as casualty underwriter, Stephen Bate as property underwriter, James Seal as commercial combined underwriter and Eleanor Slater as underwriting assistant.

Liberty said it had chosen Leeds owing to its importance as a growing business centre in the North as well as for its geographical coverage of Yorkshire and the North East.

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
