Catlin makes hire for contingency business

Catlin Group has hired Simon Lyons as a class underwriter specialising in contingency insurance.

Mr Lyons has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, specialising as a contingency insurance underwriter.

He was most recently a contingency underwriter at Sportscover Syndicate 3334 at Lloyd’s.

Nicolas Burkinshaw, active underwriter of the Catlin Syndicate at Lloyd’s (Syndicate 2003), said: “I am delighted to welcome Simon Lyons to Catlin.

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
