police

Three people have been arrested in Liverpool as part of an on-going investigation into a suspected cash for crash fraud operation estimated to be worth more than £1m.

Two women, aged 44 and 32, and one man, 46, were arrested close to John Lennon Airport on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud. A 40-year old man was also arrested in the Old Trafford area of Manchester.

The arrests were made on 22 May by detectives from the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) of the City of London Police, who were assisted by Merseyside Police.

The investigation was instigated when insurers contacted police after growing concerned at some of the motor insurance claims
