Quinn faces 'punitive' action over contempt ruling
A judge has told Seán Quinn it would be difficult to persuade her against enforcing ‘punitive’ action against him, after he was found in contempt of court for putting assets beyond the reach of the former Anglo-Irish Bank.
The BBC reported that Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne described the behaviour of Mr Quinn, along with his son Seán and his nephew Peter Darragh Quinn, as deceitful and dishonest, at the High Court in Dublin.
Anglo, which is now known as the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC) had sought properties owned by the Quinn family to help settle Mr Quinn’s near-£2bn debts.
IBRC accused the Quinns of breaching court orders preventing them from interfering with assets in several different jurisdictions.
