Chartered status is "nothing more than a logo"
Chartered status has had no discernible effect on the overall quality of UK insurance brokers, one industry insider has claimed.
Mr Cooper, managing director of The Insurance Manager, stated that, although gaining chartered status was a good starting point for improvement, it has become little more than a logo that companies can add to their stationery.
“I think it’s a great idea to raise the image of insurance which, let’s be honest, is pretty ropy,” he said. “I’ve been in the industry for 40-odd years and I have witnessed it deteriorate in recent years.”
