Mixed reaction to government proposals on whiplash

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has welcomed the government's plans to take tough action on tackling rising whiplash claims, amid criticism it is "cheap political point scoring".

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is consulting on the possibility of creating new independent medical panels to improve diagnosis of whiplash injuries.

Another potential change would allow for more whiplash cases to be challenged in the small claims court, ensuring that it is no longer cheaper for insurance companies to accept questionable claims rather than contesting them.
