Aviva turnaround on branch closures "a slap in the face" for brokers

Brokers have responded to news that Aviva plans to close 13 branches around the country over the next two years.

The news of the closure comes just months after Phil Bayles, interim intermediary and partnership director at Aviva, told Insurance Age: “We haven’t got any plans to close any branches.”

However, in an apparent about face since Bayles' statement in April, today the provider announced the closure of 13 regional branches. Insurance Age understands that up to 80 people will lose their jobs in the process.
