Liberty adds to commercial casualty team

Liberty Mutual Insurance (LMI) has made two new appointments and an internal promotion to grow its commercial casualty operation.

The commercial lines division of Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe revealed that Neil Hammond joined LMI on 1 August as UK commercial casualty manager with responsibility for the full portfolio throughout the UK.

He has over 24 years' experience in the casualty/liability market and reports to Richard Coxon, chief underwriting officer of LMI.

In addition to Neil's appointment, Chris Fletcher has joined LMI as senior casualty underwriter - Birmingham, with responsibility for the book of business in

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
