ABI members paid out record amount for weather claims in H1 2014

Trade body data shows total claims amount fell by 37% between first two quarters.

Weather damage claims totalled £845m for members of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) in the first half of 2014.

According to the ABI, in terms of weather damage claims alone, this is the most costly first half to a year since the organisation’s records began.

The first quarter’s weather damage claims made up 83% of the total for the first half, at £703m.
