QBE to shut down motor claims office in Norwich

The insurer plans to move its claims operations to fewer locations.

QBE is to shut its motor claims operation in its Norwich office early next year.

In a statement the insurer said: "This [the closure] forms part of our strategy to consolidate our claims operations into fewer locations so as to better leverage the skills and experience of our specialist claims teams and be better positioned to service our UK clients."

The insurer also highlighted that it planned to double the size of its claims office in Leeds, creating 96 new roles in the process.

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
