Insurer reveals 1,500 are set to lose jobs following Friends Life acquisition.

Aviva is set to cut 1,500 jobs following the successful completion of the Friends Life acquisition, according to a circular sent to shareholders this week.

The £5.6bn purchase of Friends Life was announced last year and shareholders are currently voting on the plans.

A spokesperson told Insurance Age that so far there no further information about whether those job losses would be felt in the general insurance or life areas of the business. Nor has there been any information about the locations
