Bricklayer convicted of insurance fraud after bogus £200,000 personal injury claim.

A construction worker in Stockton-on-Tees who tried to claim £200,000 from Axa has pleaded guilty to contempt of court and was sentenced to a six month jail term, suspended for two years.

After suffering a work-related wrist injury, Paul Havert, 37, submitted a claim to his employer, a customer of Axa, saying that he could not return to working as a bricklayer because of his injury.

Axa commercial lines and personal intermediary made interim payments of £30,000.
