The Burley Group reveals ambitious growth plans

MD Matthew Mawson says the broker plans to make acquisitions, add staff and expand following refinancing.

After the news that The Burley Group completed a refinancing deal with Yorkshire Bank, Matthew Mawson, co-owner and managing director of the broker, told Insurance Age that its focus would be on acquisitions and organic growth.

He said: "We are looking to acquire businesses which bring additional strength to our niche areas or which are more general commercial brokers.

"We are looking for the right opportunity, but we don't have any fixed ideas yet."

FSCS gives first insight on increasing levy to £394m

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has indicated its levy for 2025/26 will rise to £394m from £265m this financial year as it cited having lower surpluses to carry forward and offset bills – a factor that has benefited brokers for two years in a row.
