The Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) was surprised following the comments of Andrew Campbell in the article 'MIB pays out £110k settlement in diesel spill claim' (1 November, www.insuranceage.com). The bureau has paid out on many cases involving diesel spillages, and will continue to do so where appropriate.
Each case the MIB receives is investigated under the 2003 Untraced Drivers' Agreement (UDA), and where it is proven that the spillage arose from a negligent act of an untraced motorist, the case
