The only certainty over the coming year is change, with brokers seeking new avenues to secure their businesses while regulatory control could undergo seismic shifts in the UK and Europe, writes Jessica Pothering
Everyone is waiting for the winds of change, hoping that 2010 will bring an end to the recession. While there is talk of the green shoots of a recovering economy, it seems the only winds blowing lately have left behind devastated homeowners and a new wave of insurance claims that need to be dealt with.
Add to this equation the rating increases that many in the industry had predicted for 2009 but did not really materialise - especially for new business.
