Products/schemes: Chartis D&O to cover PR costs

Chartis UK has extended its directors' and officers' policy to include an endorsement that will pay for public relations expenses to respond to online exposures.

The cover has been designed to help mitigate a crisis resulting from a credible threat that confidential information about a company will be posted online, or to manage the reputational damage to a company caused once disclosures are made.

The trigger for the former is where management expects the stock price to fall significantly as a result of rumours of disclosure, while in the latter case it is the publication of confidential information.
