Brokers remain upbeat in the face of recession

Insurance brokers have remained confident about the UK insurance market's resilience to the current economy, according to a new survey by FWD Research.

The study showed that almost half of UK brokers (47%) have not changed their opinions about the strength and resilience of insurers since the credit crunch began. Also, when asked whether they felt a top 10 UK insurer would fail this year, over two-thirds of brokers (68%) said they felt this was unlikely.

Among brokers who have expressed concern, 15% said they worried that levels of insurer security have diminished. A further 10% say they will think more carefully about which insurer they place
