The ABI has estimated that fraudulent claims on motor and householdinsurance alone is now costing insurers - and their honest policyholders -£20m a week.

Surprisingly, new data now emerging from the ABI's recent 'AttitudesTowards Honesty' survey is revealing a new breed of fraudster with aprofile that insurers might not have expected - the middle-class, male,married homeowner who has received a higher education.

The ABI originally questioned 2,000 adults on their attitudes to falseclaims. Some 7%
