Lloyd's is expecting to face net claims of $2.34bn (£1.3bn) as a result of hurricanes Gustav and Ike, which hit the US Gulf Coast in September.
This provisional loss estimate will be in line with analysts' combined industry loss estimates of $20bn to $25bn, and will cover both on and offshore claims for the two storms. However, Lloyd's said determining total insured loss was not yet possible, as the full extent of the damage had yet to be realised.
