Andy King, president of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (Cila) told Insurance Age that although the new Cila/Association of British Insurers (ABI) claims code did not address the problem of unlawful pressure being placed on small and medium sized enterprise (SME) policyholders to mitigate their loss before they know who is liable, it was clearly an issue.

Mr King was responding to a comment made by Nick Balcombe, chief executive of the Balcombe Group, who suggested that the ABI/Cila
