Much of Tony Cornell's article 'Is the Bubble Bursting' (Insurance Age, August, p18) is aimed at managing general agents (MGAs), including how detrimental they are and how their disappearance during hard phases of the market can only benefit independent brokers. Great soundbites Tony, but sadly, extremely one-dimensional.

His article fails to acknowledge that the term MGA has become an unrepresentative catch-all for our industry. An analyst from Deloitte also recently pointed out that it is not
