Brokers considering selling their businesses have been warned that the exceptional earnings multiples in the market will not last.

The prediction came from economist Professor Roger Martin-Fagg, in an address to the Broker Network Conference about the state of world markets. While discussing the issue of the 'credit crunch', and the impact it would have in the UK, Professor Martin-Fagg said the days of companies spending "silly money" to acquire brokerages were over.
