Despite difficulties created by the Motor Insurance Database and a reported shrinkage in the fleet motor sector, Diane Smyth finds insurers upbeat about fleet's future in the broker market.

Phase two of the Motor Insurance Database kicked off on 20 January,
meaning that cars covered by fleet insurance policies now need to be
registered on the MID as well as privately-covered cars. Each new car has
to be registered within 14 days, with fleet managers facing fines of up to
£5000 if they fail to do so.


The MID aims to help drivers hit by other cars track down the offenders
but despite this laudable aim and the stiff penalties faced by failure to
