Q: We have had a facility with an insurer for the past four years toplace personal lines business; the contract included a 12-month
cancellation clause for either party. The insurer has given less than five
months notice of its intention to cancel the agreement. On what sort of
basis should we negotiate for breach of contract?
A: Without seeing the contract you have with the insurance company, we
must assume that there is a valid 12-month cancellation agreement
contained within it.
