Commercial brokers now face competition from new intermediaries such
as banks, building societies and supermarkets, according to Peter Hubbard,
chief executive of Axa Insurance.


Mr Hubbard said: "There are still a lot of new players coming into the
market and increasingly they are going to be selling commercial lines.


Some of the banks have got big holes due to the fall in investment and are
looking to insurance sales to fill them."
