CGNU has completed its withdrawal from the London market, with the sale of Marlborough Underwriting Agency.
The wholly-owned Lloyd's managing agency is to be bought by the Berkshire Hathaway Group. CGNU exited the global risks market in August 2000, and is also rumoured to be withdrawing from UK corporate business.
Subject to Lloyd's approval, Berkshire Hathaway will replace CGNU as the capacity provider for the Malborough managed syndicates in 2001.
