Towergate Underwriting Group has acquired the non-life portfolio of Medical Insurance Agency, an intermediary and IFA which targets the medical profession. The general insurance division of MIA manages a premium income of more than £17m, 70 staff and 27 000 clients.
MIA decided to focus on its financial services business after a strategic review in August 1999. This sale disposes of the company's last non-core division, and MIA is now under new management, headed by chief executive Martin
