The number of people buying critical illness cover is on the increase, with the standardisation of policy definitions greatly helping its public image, says Shona Cronin.
Critical illness cover is currently experiencing a boom. Policy saleshave reached a record level for the eighth consecutive year, rising by
10.8% over 1997, according to Swiss Re's most recent Healthwatch
report.
The number of new polices sold in 1998 with some form of CI cover included
rose to approximately 700,000, bringing the total number of CI policies in
existence to 2.4 million.
