The market share of intermediaries in home insurance is falling rapidly as banks and building societies in the UK take an increasing share of the market distribution, according to financial data collection and research company, Defaqto.

According to its new report, Home Insurance in the UK, this trend away from traditional broking channels is set to continue, particularly if the advent of Financial Services Authority regulation has the long-term impact of driving small brokers and intermediaries
