Fortis UK had a profit increase of 22% to £66.4m for 2005. Fortis Insurance saw profit before tax up 18% to £58.1m (2004: £49.2m). Its gross written premium was up 4% to £596.6m (2004: £574m) The combined operating ratio for motor improved to 98.4% (2004: 98.8%) and GWP decreased 1% at £372.1m (2004: £375.2m). Fortis will see the full benefits of the acquisition of its broking arm Outright in next year's results.
