Competition in the solicitors' professional indemnity market is hotting up, with Lloyd's broker FirstCity taking on six account executives from the defunct Solicitors' Indemnity Fund (SIF).

The team includes Paul Lawrence, a senior cover and contribution handler, Neil Casson, and Janine Parker. They will handle solicitors' enquiries using FirstCity's online service, which goes live 1 July. The service is aimed at practices with up to three partners, building on FirstCity's experience of
