Nearly two-thirds of brokers have turned people down for jobs because of their age, a survey by law firm Peninsula has revealed.

Based on a poll of 313 broker employers, it comes just five months before new age discrimination legislation comes into effect on 1 October.

The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 will make it unlawful to discriminate against someone on the basis of their age in almost all areas of the employment field.

In the survey, 63% of brokers said they had not employed
