Since its incorporation as a plc in 1998 Helm has realigned and refocused. David Hare tells Catherine Tennant how he intends to embrace technology to stay in control.

The term consolidation is rarely used in a positive sense when
talking about the general insurance industry. But it is precisely a
strategy of consolidation of its own business, coupled with the investment
in technology to enable and support this, which is allowing Helm Group UK
to celebrate a happy and healthy 40th birthday this year.


The company was established in London's West End in 1961. Following a
change in management in 1998 and it being incorporated as a plc, the West
