The church insurance market is a competitive, price-driven marketwhere new business is hard to come by. The Ecclesiastical Insurance Group
has now become the dominant player since it acquired Ansvar Insurance last
year. Ecclesiastical Insurance now has 92% of the Anglican church market -
34% of the overall market - with Ansvar being particularly active in the
non-traditional market.
There is concern over the possible repercussions in the sector as a result
of such dominance by a single insurer
