Broking start-up Oval has refused to rule out market speculation that it is on the brink of acquiring Leicester-based Bland Bankart.

The deal would fit with Oval's plan to acquire regional commercial brokers and become a top 10 UK intermediary, after announcing a £15m war chest in November.

Sources close to PB confirmed speculation that "tight heads of agreement had been agreed between the two parties," however, Bankart chairman and managing director, Philip Bland, refused to comment.
