Norwich Union's strategy to redirect all Hill House Hammond personal lines customers to NU Direct has suffered a set back after insurer NIG moved to keep its customers in the broker market.

NIG's decision to transfer its business, currently handled by the HHH call centre, to Swinton Colonnade, follows wranglings with other carriers over client ownership and renewal rights after NU's decision to close HHH.

Although agreements with some insurers such as Zurich have been reached, NU is working hard
