Well done W. Robert Hardy (PB, August 1998). I am glad it was a man
who brought up the matter of unacceptable attitudes to women in our
industry.
Having worked in this sector since 1968, I have always been aware that
there are deep and ingrained prejudices held by many men with regard to
the role of women.
Recently, I attended an interview with a local high street broker with a
view to obtaining a fairly senior position. Forty minutes into the
interview, the MD leant forward and said
