The General Insurance Standards Council has warned brokers not to leave applications for GISC membership until the last minute and has set a deadline of 1 July to prevent brokers exploiting the Financial Services Authority's agreement to offer 'due credit' to members when applying for authorisation.

Existing applicants must also ensure that GISC has all information required by this date or risk having their applications for membership rejected.

Anthony Howland Jackson, chairman of GISC, said:
