New broking group Oval has £15m to spend on acquisitions. Oval has already acquired RP Hodson and hopes to bring together enough regional commercial brokers to become one of the UK's top-ten intermediaries.

Phillip Hodson, chairman of the RP Hodson Group, is now group chief executive of Oval, while Lochie Spearman is head of the group's acquisitions. Antony Pinsent, formerly a director at Aon, will be appointed chairman.
