Aviva is having another good year, despite controversy over job losses at the recently acquired RAC. In the UK, for the six months to 31 June, Aviva had an operating profit in UK general insurance of £431m, up 19% from £361m, compared with the same period last year. A combined ratio of 96% was recorded, while underwriting profit for the same period vastly improved to £182m, from £92m last year.
