Towergate Underwriting Group has denied speculation that it is in
discussions to acquire Cheltenham-based Endsleigh Insurance. However, it
refused to comment on rumours that it was outbid for Iron Trades by
QBE.


The underwriting agency is to make three more acquisitions in the next two
months and is aiming to achieve gross written premium of £200m by the end
of the year. At the time of going to press, one was due to be announced in
the last week of April. All three purchases will be niche firms
